Update: More than 1,400 homes without power across county

MORE than 1,400 customers are without power in areas across Oxfordshire. 

Scottish and Southern Electric said 815 people were affected and it was working to restore power and hoped to do so tonight.

Villages affected include Wheatley, Faringdon, Bampton and Great Milton.

SSE spokeswoman Kirsty Irons said: “We have additional support and engineers there working to restore supply and we hope to have it back on tonight.”

And Western Power has said 589 in the Banbury area are without power and the estimated time to get them back on has been given as 2am.
