A proposed link between Oxfordshire County Council and Hampshire County Council has taken a step forward.

Yesterday Oxfordshire’s cabinet approved plans to look into the business case for moving back office education and customer service jobs to Hampshire to save money. It is proposed that the move will take place in April 2015.

City Council would have to find a council interested in doing such a deal with them, and I don't see any takers beyond joint procurement. If you look at most of the other District Councils they are already sharing services with other authorities eg Cherwell with South Northants and Stratford, West Oxfordshire and Cotswold, South Oxfordshire and the Vale.
