MORE than 80 per cent of Oxford Mail online readers think the Didcot Power Station cooling towers should be demolished when everyone can see it, according to our poll.
The vote, on the Mail’s website, asked if the towers should be demolished at a different time of day, in daylight, when more people could see it.
By yesterday afternoon, 85 per cent of people had voted yes, and 15 per cent voted no.
The towers are due to be brought down sometime between 3am and 5am on Sunday, July 27, with owners nPower saying safety and minimal disruption to infrastructure was paramount.
But an online campaign started by Didcot resident Christine Reardon is trying to change that to 6am and has more than 1,300 signatures.
