A CHAMPION drummer is out to break four world records at a pub at Grove on Saturday.

Jerome Dehedin wants to be the loudest and fastest drummer in the world - and raise money for Millbrook Primary School and Grove Church of England Primary School in the process.

The 41-year-old drummer, who performs under the name of The Jerome Experience, will take up his drumsticks for the record attempts at The Baytree pub, The Green.

Mr Dehedin, of Sinodun Road, Didcot, said: "I am proud and pleased to be trying to set a world record. It's an unusual event and I hope it will grab people's attention. It is going to be a unique experience for the people at The Baytree."

The drumming marathon is expected to last for four hours as he takes up the challenge from 12.30pm.

He became the world's loudest drummer in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2003, but his latest attempts are even more impressive because they will not involve computers or sound systems.

During this session, he wants to become the world's loudest drummer and the fastest double bass drummer with his legs for one minute.

He will also attempt to hit the highest number of double bass drumbeats with his legs in one minute and complete a double bass drumming marathon over two hours.

Peter Hall, assistant manager of The Baytree, said: "He's going to attempt four world records using no speakers or anything.

"We will be pleased to have him play, but I can see that after a few hours, it might get a bit annoying.

"We have already warned our neighbours it's going to be noisy and some regulars have said they're not coming down.

"But it should be a really good day. He is quite well known on the music circuit and he will have his own little crowd. He said he wanted to do it for charity - but I suggested we give money to the local schools because people like to keep it in the area."

Mr Dehedin is soon hoping to move from drumming into choreography, mixing yoga and body stretching with performance.
