A DIDCOT charity has celebrated its 15th anniversary but officially changing its legal status.

Play2Give, founded by Andrew Baker, was created with the mission of raising money for brain injury and children’s hospital charities across Oxfordshire.

Mr Baker, who was born with a brain injury, has won several prestigious awards for his fundraising.

The charity officially turned 15 on Tuesday, September 13 but physical celebrations were cancelled out of respect for the Queen who passed away last week.

It was due to have a “Birthday Party on the Park” event two days after the Queen’s passing.

However, it was decided to change the legal status of Play2Give from “fundraising organisation” to “charitable incorporated organisation” with registered charity number 1200351.

Community officer Matthew Noris said: “While we remain sensitive to the national period of mourning, we want to thank all the amazing volunteers and supporters who have helped us to change, transform, and save lives across Oxfordshire over the last 15 years.

“We, and our beneficiaries, are immensely grateful. As we celebrate our 15th birthday, we are also delighted to officially change our legal status.

“This change opens up a huge number of doors for us, including the possibility of gift aid, and provides the public with greater transparency about how we work.

“We are thankful to all who worked to make this change happen.”
