A NEW convenience store which has opened in the centre of Wantage has apologised for a post stating it sells ‘grinders, baggies and scales’.

Wantage Convenience Store has opened in the old McColl’s building in Market Place this week.

Announcing the opening on Facebook, a post read: “We are a newly opened Off-License Store and a family business.

“We sell groceries, household items, alcohol and smoking items and specially requested items such as Bonks, Grinders, Baggies and Scales [sic].”

However, people criticised the store stating it was ‘encouraging drug use’ in the town.

The store has apologised for the ‘wording’ of the post which has since been edited.

A new post reads: “Safety is always first. Will support our local community. Also, new in the business, mistakes will make me learn.”
