A South Oxfordshire pub and village shop has been handed a new one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
The Old Red Lion, in Tetsworth High Street, Thame was given the low score after an assessment conducted by the Food Standards Agency, in conjunction with South Oxfordshire District Council, on January 12 this year.
A score of one denotes “major improvement necessary”. The inspection graded hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities and building with “improvement necessary” and management of food safety with “major improvement necessary”.

Another, subsequent inspection took place at the venue yesterday (Monday, February 19), a representative for The Old Red Lion confirmed, however they did not wish to comment further.
The pub has fared to positive reception online, holding an average four and a half out of five star rating on Tripadvisor.
Of South Oxfordshire's 279 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 148 (53 per cent) have ratings of five and two have ratings of zero.
