Fans of Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway have praised Joe Lycett for his appearance as a guest host on tonight's episode.

Ahead of the show, Lycett posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: "I am appearing as the guest star announcer on Saturday Night Takeaway tonight as 'it's a good profile raiser ahead of the new series of Late Night Lycett'. 7pm, ITV1 and STV!"

The Birmingham-born comedian is known for his witty consumer championing, where he takes on the big companies in a bid to protect the little guy.

Tonight he was appearing as a guest host on Takeaway and went down a treat with viewers.

One viewer said: “anyone else greetin' at that #takeawaygetaway? Oh my goodness. Well done @antanddec . You and @joelycett do more to lift the spirits of people. X".

Another said: "Always great to see the witty @joelycett  on TV. Always a chat-show & panel show highlight. 1 of my favorite comedians. Will never say no to a good laugh. Gonna be a fun star guest announcer this week on @itvtakeaway.... #SaturdayNightTakeaway".

Saturday Night Takeaway ending:

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly had previously shared they would be taking a ‘pause’ from the show after the 2024 series.

The pair, both 48, began their career on Byker Grove in 1989 and have since become an iconic hosting duo, presenting the likes of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here and Limitless Win.

Although Ant and Dec are expected to return to their other hosting duties, Ant has now revealed why the pair are taking a break from Saturday Night Takeaway.

Speaking in an interview with Flaunt magazine, Ant discussed what was next for the pair and why they would be taking a break from Saturday Night Takeaway:

“A lot, we do the show and then Britain's Got Talent, but on a more personal level, part of the reason we're pausing Takeaway is we need a break ourselves, and we need to spend some time with our family. We've both got children that we need to spend time with for a little bit."
