A global and platinum diamond-selling band formed in Oxford has revealed the first single from their new album.

Glass Animals have announced details of their fourth studio album, "I Love You So F***ing Much", which is set to be released on July 19.

The band has provided a first glimpse of the album with a song titled ‘Creatures in Heaven’.

Dave Bayley, Glass Animals frontman, songwriter, and producer, said about the song: "It’s about a moment in time, be it a split second or a year or whatever, having the capacity to be enormously formative and life-changing."

The new album follows the band's successful 2020 album, Dreamland, which sold more than 12 million copies worldwide and produced the hit song ‘Heat Waves,’ the biggest international hit from a UK band in nearly 30 years.

Mr Bayley struggled to come to terms with the band's newfound fame.

He said: "Life can change dramatically, but sometimes you aren’t able to change as quickly on a personal level.

"You end up feeling like a spectator.

"And then you are asked and expected to be a certain type of person, a different person.

"But…I wasn’t sure how. It confused me to the point of not knowing who I was or if anything was real."

Dreamland was the stepping stone to the band's global recognition, earning them Grammy and BRIT nominations, more than 44 billion global streams, and five consecutive weeks at No 1 on the US Billboard 100.

However, amidst their success, the band members were separated due to the lockdown, leading to a sense of "detachment".

This experience of detachment played into their current work, inspiring much of the soul-searching reflected in their new album.

Set against the backdrop of existentialism and love, their new album encourages everyone to join their love space odyssey.

Glass Animals set up a landing page that read “Panic. Answer the Question please”.

The band received an influx of more than 15,000 questions through their page in the first few days, answering queries around existentialism, potential performances in space, and the meaning of life.

The album's title began to appear globally from Valentine's Day, with the first taste of their album's visual direction revealed through social media earlier in the month.

The band shared "Desperately Seeking Dave" ads in newspapers, prompting fans to locate Mr Bayley for an exclusive early listen to the new single.

The band has now announced additional pop-up shows in California and Mexico City this spring, with tickets selling out instantly.

More shows are set to be announced soon.
