A PROFESSIONAL musician has created a success story with her pottery business.

Violinist and viola player Charlotte Storrs set up her own pottery 11 years ago in her home in Culham near Abingdon.

The mother-of-four decided when her children grew up she would return to the clay wheel after learning how to make pots in her native Denmark.

Now she teaches other people to enjoy the art, as well as tutoring music students.

She said: “When you don’t have kids at home you have a lot more time to do things for yourself.

“I did pottery in my twenties before children and then it was always working or caring, I had no time to do it.

“But once the kids moved out I started up again, went back to college and started up this business.”

The former City of Oxford College student now teaches pottery to children and adults one-to-one or in groups.

She has also received commissions to make pots.

She said: “I’ve just finished an order for a five-star hotel in Switzerland – I never thought that would happen.

“I think there is a real interest in pottery, it’s an incredibly satisfying thing to do''.

“For some people it’s almost like therapy.”
