NATALIA Wantulok is looking forward to serving up tasty treats to the residents of Abingdon.

Croissants, pastries and cakes will continue to be on the meni after a much-loved French patisserie was taken over.

Ms Wantulok is now in charge of Patisserie Pascal after Pascal and Debbie Garandeau retired.

The patisserie in East St Helen Street, which first opened in 2007, closed for a fortnight and is now welcoming customers again.

Ms Wantulok, 28, originally from Poland and now living in Drayton, said: "We are up and running and customers are being very supportive.

"I have always wanted to own my own business and then this opportunity came up.

"As well as the French favourites we will also be selling one or two Polish items.

"My hobby is baking and I am a big fan of The Great British Bake Off.

"Some people have been coming here for years and they really want the patisserie to stay because there aren't many places like it."

Ms Wantulok has an early start and gets into work about 5am to help the store's baker, Roman Wrobel, also from Poland. He works through the night baking bread and pastries.

She added: "It's just the two of us at the moment. We are really looking forward to meeting all our customers."

The patisserie is open from Wednesday to Friday from 7am to 4.30pm, on Saturday from 8am to 3pm, and on Sunday from 8am to 1pm.

A message from Mr and Mrs Garandeau on the patisserie's Twitter page thanked residents for their "amazing support" and wished the new owner "lots of luck".
