Tennis legend Tim Henman got back on court to celebrate the 10 years of an Abingdon sports centre.
The £10.3m White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre in Audlett Drive marked the milestone on Thursday.
There was a training session with British tennis legend Tim Henman, who lives in Aston Tirrold near Cholsey and he later took questions.
Trainee tennis coach Sophie Marriott, 17, from Botley, said it was great to meet the former British number one. “It was good and everyone got to play tennis with him. We are so lucky to have this centre in our area,”she enthused.
Since it opened the centre has been used more than 8.2 million times, hosting 2.2m individual swims and more than 5.2m visits to the gym, sports hall, spinning room or other facilities. The centre is owned by the district council and managed by DC Leisure through registered charity Active Nation.
Elaine Ware, cabinet member for economy, leisure and property at the district council, said: “The first 10 years have been an incredibly successful period.”
