THE Environment Agency has issued a number of flood alerts for Oxfordshire rivers and brooks after yesterday's heavy rain, which is forecast to continue overnight.

Flood alerts are lowest level of warning used by the agency, with flooding possible on low-lying ground near rivers, but with no imminent risk to properties.

The watercourses currently covered by alerts are:

  • The River Thame, including Thame, Shabbington, Ickford, Waterperry, Wheatley, Drayton St Leonard, Overy and Dorchester.
  • The Chalgrove Brook at Chalgrove and Stadhampton.
  • The Langford and Wendlebury Brooks and their tributaries from Stratton Audley downstream to the M40 near Merton, including Bicester and Wendlebury.
  • The River Ray and its tributaries from Shipton Lee to Islip, including Blackthorn and Murcott.
  • The Ginge Brook, from Steventon to Sutton Courtenay.
  • The River Evenlode from Moreton-in-Marsh to Cassington including Kingham, Milton-under-Wychwood, Shipton-under-Wychwood, Ascott-under-Wychwood, Charlbury, Fawler and Long Hanborough.
  • The River Glyme at Wootton and Woodstock.
