CAMERON Brannagan aggravated a knock to his ankle in Oxford United’s win at Burton Albion, after he initially suffered the problem in training this week.

United’s star midfielder was forced off after 34 minutes in the 4-0 win, with Josh McEachran coming on in his place.

U’s head coach Des Buckingham revealed that Brannagan first picked up the ankle knock in training, with that then getting hit against the Brewers.

“Cam rolled his ankle in the week. He didn’t train on Thursday, but trained on Friday, so it’s just the same ankle he got hit on,” said Buckingham.

“It was a bit sore already, so we’ll just see how he responds.”

Elliott Moore also hobbled off against Burton, during second half stoppage time when United had made all of their substitutions.

Buckingham said: “We’ll get them in and make sure they’re okay. You have to be careful with what you say because if it goes the other way, people will pin you for it.

“We’ll assess them. The medical team have got them now, and the good thing is we’ve got a free week, so it gives us a bit of time to make sure we can try and get them ready.”
