OXFORD United cut back on agent fees by more than £125,000 this year, new Football Association figures reveal.

The U’s spent £254,705 on all intermediary and agent fees between February 1, 2023, and February 1, 2024.

That figure is down from the £381,828 spent during the previous 12-month period, when United ranked fifth in Sky Bet League One.

This year though, the U’s now sit ninth in the League One agent fees spend table, with Derby County again out in front.

The Rams forked out £434,465, followed by Reading (£397,788), Fleetwood Town (£396,184) and Blackpool (£395,345).

Cambridge United were the smallest spenders in the third tier, shelling out just £15,680 on agent fees. Across League One, £5,127,913 was spent.

New contracts for Simon Eastwood, Ciaron Brown, James Golding, Sam Long, Elliott Moore, Stephan Negru and Tyler Goodrham all contributed to United’s spend, plus the permanent signings of Greg Leigh, Jordan Thorniley, Alex Gorrin, Josh McEachran, Owen Dale, Ruben Rodrigues, Max Woltman, Will Goodwin and Mark Harris.

Loan signings James Beadle, Jay Matete, Kyle Edwards and Stan Mills are also listed in the FA figures.
