Abingdon Vale’s batting woes continued as they followed totals of 101 and 88 with an even worse performance at home to Wolverton Town in Cherwell League Division 2 on Saturday.

Town’s 17-year-old left-arm seamer, Haroon Malik, swung the ball to great effect to take 7-14.

Atif Akhlaq took 3-7 as Vale crumbled to 48 all out in just over an hour.

Vale’s hopes were raised when Wolverton slumped to 6-4 in reply.

Graham Charlesworth took 4-26, but was powerless to stop Town reaching 50-5.

Kingston Bagpuize had no answer to the bowling of Chris Eaton (7-39) and Tim Foster (3-57) as they slumped to 104 all out against Aston Rowant 2nd in Division 4.

Only Martin Shepherd (39) made much progress in the innings which lasted 50.3 overs.

Opener Paul Plumridge hit 33 to set Rowant on their way to 105-3 in the 30th over.

Trevor Spindler took 5-50 and Ali Damarchi 3-18 as Cumnor 2nd were bundled out for 138 after choosing to bat first at Wallingford in Division 4.

Only teenager James Lee (38) and veteran Steve Slade (34) got going as Cumnor were all out in the 34th over.

A couple of early wickets only delayed the inevitable as Lee Ainsworth (67no) and Rob Sessions (40no) took the hosts to 139-2 and their third successive win.

Mark Middleton took 8-51 to bowl Challow & Childrey 2nd to an eight-run victory over Bledlow Ridge 2nd in Division 5.

A 95-run partnership bet-ween Alex Lynch (64) and Mark Podbery (55no) was the backbone of Challow’s 205-5.

Phillip Brooks (55) put Ridge on top, but Middleton ensured the visitors fell for 197, despite Richard Dryden’s heroic 43.

Vishane Perera was undefeated on 76 when Didcot closed out victory over Tiddington 2nd by five wickets.

The visitors had managed 156 before being bowled out, Alan Maule hitting 40 while Jordan Morrison took 4-27.

In the Didcot innings, Nathan Brooks took 3-25, but the home side crossed the winning line in the 47th over, with Andy Broughton (36no) backing up Perera’s knock.

Wallingford 2nd scrambled to a draw against Twy-ford 2nd in Division 7.

Ben Elkington made 102, Ken Cronshaw 94 not out and Lee Hodges 30 not out in Twyford’s 257-2.

Wallingford were restricted to 137-8, with Stuart Edwards (39no) and Martin Ridley (30) their mainstays. Nathan Per-na claimed 6-28 for Twyford.

Didcot scored 205, Dave All-en’s 72 making him the first player to pass 11,000 runs, for the club. Brad Lynch scored 54.

Abingdon soon gave up the run chase and held on at 116-9.

Didcot 3rd lost to Witney Mills 2nd with two balls to spare, despite a sterling effort by 15-year-old all-rounder Sam Couldrick in Division 9.

Couldrick made 33 and Haydn Durrant 41 as Didcot reached 194-9.

The youngster then took 4-33, but Witney got home by two wickets thanks to Rich-ard Tilley’s 81.

Didcot 4th just missed their first win of the season as Long Marston 3rd sneaked home with two wickets to spare in Division 10.

Didcot were dismissed for 125, Clive House making 34.

Simon Birkinshaw (3-15) and Adrian Chadwick (3-18) made inroads for Didcot, but Marston sneaked home.
