RADLEY finished in a creditable third place in their Alpha-Beta Tro-phy meeting at Lee Val-ley, London, on Sat-rday.

In perfect spring conditions, Radley managed 13 personal bests, with no fewer than ten of these coming from the under 15 section.

There was a welcome return from injury for junior, Tara Kafke, who finished second in the 100m and fourth in the 200m.

Kafke also brought home the baton for first place in the 4x100m relay.

Naomi Handley achieved a double personal best in the 800 and 1500m, clocking 2.55.88 and 5.54.09 respectively, while Aislinn Baird did likewise in the discus, throwing 26.27m.

The juniors really shone, with Georgia Sunderland clocking 12.63 in the 75m hurdles and 28.35 in the 200m.

Debutant Ellen Chung cl-ocked 3.13.51 in the 800m and threw 12.37 in the javelin, while Natalie Welsh threw 23.81m in the discus and 13.26m in the javelin.

Teammates Alex Cross and Amy Greenway clocked 15.16 and 13.13 in the 75m hurdles and 100m respectively.

Overall, Radley finished in the bronze medal position, with the juniors finishing third and the seniors fourth.

  • RADLEY’S under 13/15 boys team took the gold medal in the Oxfordshire Road Relays at Hook Norton on Sunday.

Kieran Webb came home second on leg one in 5mins 59secs.

Adam Breslin, on the second leg clocked, 6.03, before Christian von Eitzen recorded the fastest time of the day – 5.17 – to secure the gold medal.

Abingdon Amblers landed the honours in the men’s race at the Oxfordshire Road Relays at Hook Norton in 1hr 45mins 40secs.

Banbury Harriers won the women’s prize in 1.01.18.

In the veterans’ event, Oxford City A edged out Headington Roadrunners in the men’s competition.

Headington’s women won their veteran event, thanks to fine runs from Edwina MacDowall, Corinna Abesser and Adrienne Hopkins.
