Newcomer Osman Mukwe starred with four first places for Radley in the second Southern Men's League Division 3 West fixture of the season at Plymouth.

Muskwe who competed in five field events, won four of them – high jump, long jump, trIple jump and javelin.

In doing so, he broke the club’s triple jump record by leaping 13.60m. He also gain-ed a second place in the discus and third spot in the B string 200m.

Despite fielding a very small team of seven, Radley did well to finish a close fourth behind the top three teams in the league.

Veteran Mick Cottam did the team proud by competing in the 800m, 1500m, 3000m steeplechase and 5000m to gain valuable points.

Abingdon Amblers secured three individual wins in the UK Young Athletes League Midland 1 SE meeting at Horspath Road, Oxford.

There were sparkling first places for under 17 athletes Luke Terry (1500m), Megan Palmer (200m) and Jemma Gregory (300mH.

Abingdon’s under 17 relay teams stormed ahead to clinch wins in the 4x100m (Charlotte Salt, Lily Cart-wright, Megan Palmer and Jemma Gregory) and 4x300m (Claire Fabes, Megan Palmer, Cordelia Parker and Jemma Gregory), the latter ahead by more than 100 metres.

Daniel Hamilton was the first Abingdon Amblers runner home in the Town and Gown 10K race in Oxford.

Hamilton, who was first junior under 19 man to finish, came seventh overall in of 34mins 11secs.

Katy Adams was the first Abingdon lady to cross the line, recording a personal best of 44.49.

Paul Fernandez, of Abing-don Amblers, finiihed second in the 33-mile mostly off-road Marlborough Downs Challenge in a time of 3hrs 53 mins 27secs Fernandez beat the existing course record, but was second on the day two minutes behind Allen Smalls, the England 100k runner.
