Abingdom Amblers marked an outstanding season in the Mota-vation road running series by capturing their first men’s team championship.

In the final race at Oxford, Amblers packed six runners in the top 16 to ensure a comfortable winning margin over Oxford and Woodstock.

The improving Daniel Hamilton claimed his first top ten finish in ninth and was the first under 19 runner home.

Paul Fernandez was third in the overall individual men’s standings while Owen Stepney was simiarly placed in the under 19 category.

In the ladies race, Abing-don’s Steph Page and Elizabeth Purbrick were seventh and eighth respectively on the night, with their ladies team finishing third overall.

Meanwhile, Hamilton was the first junior man home in the Headington 10K on Sunday, recording a personal best of 33.55 to finish tenth overall.

Clubmate Steve Copley was 13th position, clocking 35.46 and Les Newell was 23rd in 36.51.
