DAMIEN Wiskin’s superb century inspired Wootton & Boars Hill to a 70-run victory at home to Eynsham, but it proved all in vain as they had to settle for third place to just miss out on promotion from Division 3.

Wiskin hit 112 and Shaun Morton 98 in Wootton’s excellent total of 289-6.

Omar Hussain then claimed 3-23 in Eynsham’s 219 all out, but the victory, and maximum points, was not enough to overhaul Fudge for second spot.

In Division 1, Shrivenham crashed to a 127-run defeat at home to Cowley Internationals, who secured their survival from relegation in the process.

Hajji Sadiqi (61) and Bilal Khan (50) helped Cowley to 225, before the hosts were dismissed for 98.

In Division 4, Stuart Armstrong claimed six wickets to help Marcham to a 52-run win over visitors Kilkenny. Tristan Barratt’s 70 saw Marcham set 210-9, before Armstrong claimed 6-23 to dismiss Kilkenny for 158.

Division 5 champions Sunningwell had to work hard to seal a three-wicket win at home to basement boys Steventon.

The visitors were indebted to Tom Cannon’s 74 in their 179 all out, Anthony Harris taking 4-40 for the hosts. Sam Baker took his season’s tally to 868 runs with a fine 70 to lead his side to 181-7.

In Division 6, youngster Jack Tomes shone with the bat to help Faringdon 2nd to an exciting two-run win at Great Horwood 2nd. Tomes hit 75 not out in Faringdon’s 195-5.
