North Berks League champions Berinsfield overcame a second-half scare to win 6-2 at home to Division 1 newcomers Lambourn Sports, writes Phil Annets.

A double from David Murphy and a Chris Murphy strike eased the hosts to a 3-0 lead at the break.

Lambourn struck back through Jonny James and Chris Hogan before Berinsfield steadied the ship, with Murphy completing his hat-trick and Luke Holdsworth also scoring alongside an own goal.

Tom Rowe's brace gave East Hendred a 2-0 victory over Saxton Rovers in their first match since winning promotion last season.

JR Willis scored the only goal of the game as Long Wittenham Athletic won 1-0 at home to Kintbury Rangers.

A Marlon James double and goals from Kieron Davies and Steve Pitson helped Abingdon Town to a 4-1 home win over Dorchester, for whom Charlie Lee scored.

Ashley Searle netted twice and Kane Galliford added a third to give Wallingford Town a 3-1 win at Faringdon Town.

Richard Evans notched for Town.

Hanney United made a stunning return to Division 2 after a five-year absence, thrashing hosts Stanford in the Vale 5-0 courtesy of an Alex Bishop hat-trick and goals from Neil Pimm and Shaun Harris.

Sutton Courtenay went down to a 2-1 defeat at home to Turnpike Sports, William Wright’s goal a mere consolation as Ian Paige and Gary Dredge efforts handed victory to the visitors.

Paul Smith’s goal was of little comfort to Faringdon Town Res as they were crushed 4-1 at Burghclere, with Chris Angell (3) and Tom Smallridge also scoring.

North Oxford began life in North Berks League following their move from the Oxfordshire Senior League with a heavy 4-1 defeat at the hands of Hungerford Town Swifts in Division 3.

Glenn Leach scored their historic first goal, but Gary Fisher, Dan Chamberlain, Aidan Maycock and Lloyd Ponsford all scored for the home side.
