LETCOMBE missed out on a place in the final of the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup as they were beaten 7-3 at Olney Town.

The hosts took the lead after 11 minutes when Luke Faircloth’s attempted clearance ended up in his own net, but they responded almost immediately through Dan Hoskin on the rebound.

Olney regained the lead midway through the half when Josh Sturmioli’s low shot crept inside the post and they extended their advantage when Jack Weedon was allowed to run 30 yards before finishing clinically.

Richard Clayton pulled one back on the volley early in the second half, but two goals in the space of a minute for the hosts finished the match as a contest.

Arron Morrell spun and drove the ball into the top corner before the impressive Danny Webb drove a low shot inside the near post.

Clayton stabbed home his second to reduce the deficit once more, but there would be no catching the hosts.

Further goals from Webb and Morrell completed the rout as Letcombe pushed forward in a desperate attempt to close the gap.
