DIDCOT Town have been handed arguably one of the toughest ties in the first qualifying round after advancing in the Emirates FA Cup.

The Railwaymen beat Uhlsport Hellenic League side Flackwell Heath 2-1 on Saturday to book their spot in Monday’s draw.

And there they were handed an away trip to big-spending Bostick Premier Division side Billericay Town on Saturday, September 2.

The Essex club’s squad includes well-known former Premier League regulars Paul Konchesky and Jermaine Pennant.

In the preliminary round, Flackwell took the lead on 11 minutes when Sam Elkins was caught in possession and Jamie Essex raced through to find the top corner.

Louis Joyce went close for Didcot, but they equalised before the break when Callum McNish volleyed home.

The Railwaymen took the lead on 70 minutes, Joyce blasting home from a narrow angle.

Didcot had chances to extend their advantage as they comfortably saw out the victory.

Uhlsport Hellenic League side Wantage Town were unable to join them in the draw, losing 1-0 at Kidlington.

Substitute Ben Willoughby proved to be the hero as the dep- leted home side claimed victory.

Kidlington only had half a squad to select from due to Anaclet Odhiambo’s wedding.

The Evo-Stik South League club also had Tom Franklin sent off.

Wantage goalkeeper Curtis Meare kept out efforts from Lance Williams, Mark Bell and Jack Quainton.

But Kidlington were also reduced to ten men on 32 minutes when Franklin was shown red following a robust challenge.

After the break, Wantage’s Jack Dunmall hit a post, before Declan Benjamin cleared off the line.

But Kidlington scored what proved to be the match-winner on 76 minutes when Willoughby fired through a cluster of players and found the net.

JOE Webber hit a brace as Wallingford Town earned their first win of the season when beating Chalfont Wasps 2-1.

The south Oxfordshire side withstood a strong first half from their opponents in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East clash.

Webber struck twice after the break and, despite Chalfont replying, they held on for victory.

Letcombe let slip a 2-0 lead to go down 3-2 at Headington Amateurs.

Conor Lynch’s penalty and Alex Fragata’s drive put the visitors in front.

But they conceded three goals in ten second-half minutes, with Chris Peck, Sam Gordon and Henry Bowe securing a comeback win.

Didcot Town Reserves beat Thame Rangers 7-0, but Milton United lost 5-0 to Wokingham & Emmbrook.

In the Premier Division, Graham Bryan, Jared Jones and Samuel Wharton fired Abingdon United to a 3-0 win over Woodley United.

l WALLINGFORD Town host Oxford City Veterans in the annual Robin Antonowicz Memorial Cup match at The Hithercroft tonight (7.45).

The game is in memory of the former Wallingford and City player who was tragically killed in a road accident.
