ABINGDON remain top of the BB&O Premier Division after they maintained their 100 per cent record in a 27-19 win over Chesham.

Gareth Smith (2) and Robert Tyreman scored Abingdon’s tries. Chris Stables converted all three and also kicked two penalties.

In the Championship, Harwell made it three wins from three as they edged Farnham Royal 25-24.

Albie Welch, Tom Nicholas, James Hoskyns-Jones, Josh Tims and Rob Douglas all went over as they also secured a four-try bonus point.

Faringdon beat Oxford 58-36, while Didcot drew 37-37 at Littlemore.

In Southern Counties North, Wallingford earned a four-try bonus point, but lost 38-30 at Beaconsfield.

Dan Sadler and Ian Jeffries went over in the first half as the visitors led 18-15 at half-time.

The second half was a frantic affair, but one that was ultimately decided by indiscipline.

With Chris Jenkins sin-binned, and the hosts took advantage, scoring a try and kicking two penalties.

Wallingford struck back through James Norris, but two penalties for the hosts effectively ended the match.

Nevertheless, Jeffries managed to force his way over to earn Wallingford the bonus point.

In South West 1 East, Grove suffered a 16-10 defeat at unbeaten Newbury Blues in a match that saw seven yellow cards and one red.

Mike Martin’s penalty and Rory Gratwohl’s converted try hauled Grove back into the game at 13-10.

But a penalty on the hour mark proved enough to help Newbury seal victory and move into second place in the table.

Tom Clipsham, Ollie Rees, Joe Chilvers and Cash Chilvers were sin-binned for Grove.

Cash Chilvers was red-carded after a brawl at the end of the match.
