Abingdon Vale youngsters smashed two long-standing club records while picking up silver medals in the Oxfordshire & North Bucks Championships at Bletchley.

Both records were set by their boys 12 and under relay team of Oliver Hodgson, 12, Daniel McNamara, 11, Max Bolcato, 11 and Blaine Carpenter 12.

The team clocked 2mins 22.41 secs for the 200 metres medley to shave a full four seconds off the Vale record, which had stood for 21 years. They finished second to Bicester Bluefins.

Inspired by this swim, the quartet then came second to Maxwell SC in the 200m freestyle 2.03.30.

This was almost six seconds better than the previous club record set in 1998.
