Valtteri Bottas admitted he was disappointed with fifth place in Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix, as the Grove-based Williams team strengthened their grip on third place in the constructors’ championship.
Bottas was third in the early stages, but lost places at the final round of pitstops and was forced to come home fifth, behind winner Lewis Hamilton.
Teammate Felipe Massa finished in 17th place after being forced to pit on the first lap following a collision with Daniel Ricciardo.
However, Williams are now 69 points ahead of fourth-placed Red Bull in the team standings.
“It was not a perfect day for us, but we will take the ten points,” Bottas said.
