EAST Ilsley trainer Hughie Morrison added to his impressive strike rate at Chelmsford City with a 12-1 double courtesy of Manolito and Shifting Moon.

Morrison was making it ten winners from 18 runners since the Essex all-weather venue opened this year when the pair came up trumps on last Thursday’s card.

Manolito (4-1) got off the mark at the ninth attempt when storming home by two and three-quarter lengths from Dark Avenger in the first division of a mile handicap under Oisin Murphy.

And Shifting Moon (13-8 fav) then completed a hat-trick of wins at the track in the hands of Kieren Fox with a battling length-and-three-quarters verdict over La Fritillaire in a handicap over an extended mile and five furlongs.

Morrison notched a one-two at Haydock the next day when 16-1 shot Sleep Easy pipped better-fancied stablemate Black Key by a head.

Sent off the outsider of six in the mile and six-furlong handicap, Cam Hardie’s mount ran on gamely to claim the spoils.

Persun followed up her Newmarket maiden success for West Ilsley trainer Mick Channon with victory at Epsom.

The three-year-old filly stayed on well for champion jockey-elect Silvestre De Sousa to beat Cosmic Ray by a length and a half in an extended mile handicap.

Wantage trainer Henry Candy, who could run Limato in the Qatar Prix de la Foret at Longchamp on Sunday, sent out Teresar to make all the running under Dane O’Neill in a five-furlong Kempton Maiden Stakes.
