CONEYGREE’S fairytale Cheltenham Gold Cup triumph for Letcombe Bassett trainer Mark Bradstock was recognised with a brace of prizes at the Racehorse Owners’ Association’s 34th annual Horseracing Awards.

The eight-year-old, owned by the Max Partnership, was named the outstanding chaser and novice chaser at the ceremony at London’s InterContinental Hotel, fending off competition from Vautour and Un De Sceaux.

Coneygree made an impressive reappearance at Sandown early last month, but missed the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury after bruising a foot and then tweaking a muscle while schooling.

He now faces a race against time to line up in either the William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton - for which he must be supplemented - on Boxing Day or the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown two days later.

Meanwhile, Sheila’s Treat followed up his Wolverhampton win for West Ilsley trainer Denis Coakley with a thrilling success at Kempton.

The two-year-old colt held on to pip Blacklister by a short head in a mile nursery, with Tom Queally on board.
