TRAINER Mark Bradstock is in no rush to decide whether to run Coneygree over Christmas despite being pleased with the Gold Cup winner’s schooling session yesterday morning.

The eight-year-old, who was ridden by his regular partner Nico de Boinville, is set to have another workout this week.

Bradstock, who trains at Letcombe Bassett, will see how his stable star takes that exercise before giving the go-ahead to run in either the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day or the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown two days later.

Bradstock said: “The schooling session went very well, really good.

“He’s got to do some (more) work.

We don’t have to make a decision until Monday.”

Meanwhile, Sparsholt trainer Harry Whittington continued his winning spree when Pink Play opened her account at Southwell.

The four-year-old forged clear under Gavin Sheehan approaching the last flight in a mares’ maiden hurdle over an extended mile and seven furlongs to pass the post three and three-quarter lengths clear of Secret Door.

Theatre Goer took centre stage to get off the mark for Blewbury ownertrainer Noel Williams at Taunton.

The six-year-old mare stayed on to beat Royal Chief by half a length in a three-mile handicap hurdle.

West Ilsley trainer Mick Channon landed a 30-1 across-the-card double with The Blue Bomber at Lingfield and Excentricity at Wolverhampton.

Channon had also struck with Volunteer Point at Chelmsford City earlier in the week.

The Essex venue provided more success for East Ilsley trainer Hughie Morrison, when Bahamian Boy broke his duck in a seven-furlong nursery, with Charlie Bennett on board.
