WEST Ilsley trainer Mick Channon pulled off an amazing cross-country big-race treble with Epsom Icon striking in England, Czabo in France and Divine in Ireland.

The aptly-named Epsom Icon (8-1) set the ball rolling on Channon’s super Saturday by taking the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom, while Czabo (93-10) stormed home shortly afterwards in the Listed Prix Des Lilas at Deauville.

Divine (12-1) lifted the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes at the Curragh – with the treble paying 1,204-1.

“That was a huge buzz and I’m delighted,” he said of Epsom Icon.

“This filly does everything you ask and is so uncomplicated. Well named too.”

Czabo provided the centrepiece of a five-timer for jockey Maxim Guyon when taking a mile contest by a length and a quarter from Come Alive.

“That was great and I knew it was only a matter of time until this filly was taking stakes prizes,” said Channon.

And Divine claimed a six-furlong event by three and a half lengths in the hands of Ronan Whelan.

Channon, who sent out Harlequeen to finish a creditable third to Minding in Friday’s Investec Oaks, saw his weekend get even better on Sunday when his two runners at Goodwood, Billy’s Boots and Arnold Lane, both won under De Sousa.

Whatcombe trainer Paul Cole struck on three consecutive days with maiden winners House Of Commons at Ripon, Sweet Dragon Fly at Bath and Cliffhanger at Lingfield.

Eve Johnson Houghton’s Blewbury stables hit the target at Lingfield with Cool Bahamian, while Compton trainer Geoffrey Deacon was in the winner’s enclosure at Bath with Captain Ryan.

And Letcombe Bassett trainer Mark Bradstock got off the mark for the jumps season when Robert’s Star landed a novices’ handicap hurdle at Worcester.
