SISTER Sybil made it two wins from three starts over timber for East Ilsley trainer Hughie Morrison with a narrow victory at Leicester.

The six-year-old, who triumphed on her hurdling debut at Towcester in November before going down by a nose to Toberdowney at Wincanton on Boxing Day, regained the winning thread by taking a mares’ novices’ hurdle.

Tom O’Brien took up the running on the 11-8 favourite approaching the second-last flight in the extended mile-and-seven-furlong contest, before holding off Treackle Tart by three-quarters of a length.

Opal Tiara, from Mick Channon’s West Ilsley stables, put up a fine effort to finish second in a Group 2 fillies’ and mares’ contest at Meydan in Dubai.

Sent off a 20-1 outsider, the four-year-old finished strongly under Oisin Murphy to get within half a length of 5-6 favourite Very Special in the Cape Verdi Empowered By Cepsa, An Ipic Group Company race over a mile.

It earned her connections the runners-up prize of £32,520.33.
