GYMNASTICS: Wantage’s Ben Goodall won a superb gold medal in the first British Championships qualifying event at Telford with a career best score.
Competing in the 17-21 age group, the 19-year-old achieved his highest difficulty mark of 34.200 with his first jump.
He went even better with his second. A double straight somersault transition, ending with a triple-twisting double somersault, was landed perfectly.
With a huge tally of 35.100 points, this earned him the gold medal with a pb score of 69.300.
