VINTAGE buses will be driving through the streets of Didcot this weekend.

Didcot Transport Extravaganza, organised by Didcot Railway Centre with the Thames Valley and Great Western Omnibus Trust, will take place on Sunday (22) between 10am and 4pm.

The fifth annual event includes a vintage bus running all day providing free services from Didcot Parkway interchange to destinations such as Wantage, Blewbury, Wallingford and Abingdon, many passing through rural villages.

Operational vehicles will lay over in the Didcot station east car park. A programme for the bus and coach aspects of the day can be bought on the day giving details of the vehicles and timetables.

A total of 22 buses and coaches are booked to attend varying in year of construction from 1927 to 1990.

The Transport Rally will also include ten buses and coaches to be displayed in Ladygrove Park, Didcot, together with a wide variety of vintage cars, some “unusual” commercial vehicles, a miniature railway, and stationary engines and traction engines.

Ladygrove Park is a five-minute walk from Didcot Parkway station but a vintage shuttle bus will also operate every 15 minutes, between 10.15am and 4.15pm, connecting the two sites.

Didcot Railway Centre will also be open where steam and diesel trains will be running throughout the day offering unlimited rides alongside the exhibits.
