A PRISON sentence has been given to a man who beating up a woman in Didcot.

Thomas Somarakis, 30, of Lower Gunstone, Bideford, was sentenced to two weeks in prison for assaulting a woman in Chilton, near Didcot on February 16 this year.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced at Swindon Magistrates' Court earlier this month.

The assault was describes as “serious” and the court heard Somarakis has a previous record of an assault on the same victim in front of a child. He was sentenced to 21 days in prison at the time.

A restraining order as also been made meaning Somarakis cannot contact the victim or go near her address. The order is in place until July 6, 2025.

Court courts of £50 were also ordered.
