AN antiques and collectables department at a garden centre is closing after 32 years of trading.

The department, which is based at Chilton Garden Centre in Newbury Road, Chilton near Didcot, is closing on Monday, August 29.

It hosts about 30 different dealers that trade in the department and many are retiring or are moving to different locations.

Gordon Vaughan, the proprietor, said: “It has been a much varied 32 years adjusting to various scenarios as dictated by the good and bad times over the last three decades.

“However, it would not have been possible without the stalwart assistance of Julie Waters and support from Pat Sedwards and Clare Pinkney who are all familiar faces behind the sales desk.”

Mr Vaughan is now taking semi-retirement to spend more time with his wife, family, and friends.
