A NEW community larder is opening in Cholsey this month.

The Cholsey Community Larder, which will officially open on Wednesday, September 21, has been created by volunteers to bring a weekly pop-up opportunity to take food surplus to national retailers, gain swapping opportunities, and connect.

Its creation is in response to the growing cost of living as many local families are seeking ways to cut their outgoing bills.

To use the larder, based at Cholsey Pavilion in Station Road, membership costs £3.50 per week. It has partnered with charities SOFEA and FareShare, who distribute the larder items, and other similar projects.

A selection of items gets delivered to the weekly larder gifting registered members an opportunity to save food waste and gain a choice of items at bargain cost.

The opening times will be on Wednesdays from 3pm to 6pm. For more information, email cholseyvolunteers@gmail.com
