PEOPLE have been quick to wish the owner of an Indian takeaway a quick recovery after he suffered an unexpected stroke.

Hasnath Miah, who runs Indian Dream in Didcot, was rushed to hospital yesterday (December 5) following the medical emergency.

The takeaway owner is well known for his generosity across the town. He started giving out free meals at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, totalling over 10,000 to date, including free dinners on Christmas for the last two years.

He also donated £500 to food banks in Didcot and Abingdon after the community reimbursed him for a phone that was stolen from the restaurant.

Announcing his stroke on Facebook, Mr Miah said: “I suddenly had stroke and I have been admitted to the Oxford University Hospital - please everyone pray for me.”

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, Mr Miah said he is doing well but is still in hospital for observation. He is overwhelmed to see the amount of well wishes he has received online.

One resident has even volunteered to collect gifts and cards for Mr Miah to deliver to him in hospital at the end of this week.

Commenting in the Didcot Community Facebook group, they said: “Hasnath has done so much for his community that we should give back a little something.”
