A TEENAGER who has accused a man of raping her at a hotel in Didcot has made two previous sexual assault allegations, a court has heard.

The girl, who was 16 years old at the time of the incident, said her memories are ‘blurry’ of the evening of December 15, 2021.

A jury had at Oxford Crown Court heard that she had been drinking with her friends before attending The Oxo Bar in George Street, Oxford.

Ronan Murphy, 27, is accused of raping the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, after the pair left the bar to go to the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Didcot.

Murphy was charged with one count each of rape and assault by penetration after the girl was allegedly too drunk to consent. He has denied the offences.

During the agreed facts being read to the jury on Thursday (April 25), it was heard that the complainant has made two previous allegations of sexual assault to the police.

The first was in May 2021 when she told teachers at her school that a family member had sexually abused her.

Police arrested the person in question who was interviewed and denied the offence. No prosecution followed the arrest.

The second was reported to the school the following month. She said she has been at a party and a man had sexually assaulted her at a party.

In an email sent to her teacher, she wrote: “Words can’t describe how sorry I am and I can’t comprehend how stupid I am.

“It’s one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made. Something bad happened with a boy. I was fine with him kissing me, I didn’t care at that point.

“He was hitting me and strangling me and it hurt. I shoved him off me and I was hysterical. A lot of people don’t believe me as I was so out of it.

“[A girl] said I was a pathetic liar. These things don’t stop happening to me.”

The incident was reported to police and the man was arrested by no prosecution followed.

It is unknown why the two cases were not pursued.

In a second email addressing Murphy, the girl wrote to her teachers: “I was out with friends last now and I ended up in a hotel with an apparent older guy.

"He was arrested. Police said they think he raped me.

“I don’t know how I ended up there or how they managed to find me but I’m grateful they did. I’m just shocked by everything.”

The trial continues.
