Troops based at Didcot will parade through the town next month in a homecoming parade following recent tours of duty in Afghanistan.
Many of the Didcot-based troops have been undertaking some of the toughest work in the war zone — the detection and disarming of explosives planted by the Taliban.
The work has led to the deaths of four of their number.
We have admired the bravery and dedication of all our troops in very difficult circumstances in Afghanistan. The bravery and nerveless work of Didcot’s 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Regiment is particularly extraordinary.
We hope there will be a big turnout on Friday, April 16, to celebrate their return, to recognise their achievements, and, importantly, to remember those they have lost.
