Sir, Life with the bridge works at Challow has created a new and dangerous sport, dog walking.
Drivers using the closed road, Cow Lane, are trying to get as close to pedestrians as they can. I have been brushed by speeding wing mirrors twice while out with my dog.
The only Oxfordshire County Council department that comes out of this with any praise is trading standards. They have tried to keep hgvs off this single-track lane, despite a local MP lobbying to allow Thames Travel buses to use it. The road signs have been thrown into paddocks or in at least one case stolen.
The grass verges are being ripped up by the cars and vans by more than three feet from the tarmac, so there is no safe place for pedestrians at all. I am sure it is only a matter of time before there is a fatal collision.
