Sir, The county council cabinet decision to allow the relocation of the Marcham Road Pelican crossing about 100 metres further from the junction with Drayton Road and to install an additional crossing in Ock Street to the east of Drayton Road is another nail in the coffin for many groups including motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

It seems the pressure to build houses has created a juggernaut which trashes good sense and clear thinking and denies principled decision-making. At the same time, the long requested and desperately needed four-way Lodge Hill junction and additional Thames crossing are fairy castles in an imaginary sky.

I know Nicola Blackwood has been doing her damndest, as have others before her to address this issue; yet the dead hand of administration continues to hold sway.

Will we ever get some joined-up thinking which delivers additional road capacity before further significant traffic volumes are injected into the local roads infrastructure?

Regrettably, I think we know the answer.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the Highways Agency, Oxfordshire County Council, Vale of White Horse District Council or other statutory authority replied to this letter to prove us wrong.
