Sir, It’s gratifying to see the support from the Herald and local luminaries in their efforts to ensure that the pool remains not just open, but enhanced for the benefit of future generations.

It’s such a pity that the current MP seems to be less forthcoming in her whole-hearted commitment to retaining this valuable public amenity. Meanwhile in Pontypridd, Wales, the local council, having obtained £5.6 million in funding from the National Lottery and the EU are busily putting back into service their Lido which has been unused for 20 years!

Where there’s a will there’s a way but will the Vale of White Horse District Council take note or are they going to continue to listen to Mr.(fill my boots with cash) Consultant! This consultation needs to be seen as credible and not just a tick in the box exercise by council officers discharging their democratic accountability duty, whilst tipping the scales towards a pre-ordained result.
