Sir, a few weeks ago, I received through my letterbox a publication called Vale Vision. This clearly stated in big letters ‘Council tax frozen for the fifth year in a row’.
I then received my council tax demand for 2015/16. Unless the Vale of White Horse District Council has made a mistake, not only have I got another increase in tax to pay for this year, but I have been overcharged for at least the previous three years.
Vale Vision also goes on to state ‘Freezing Council Tax at just £2.24 per week for the average household’. I’d be very interested to know what sort of property in our region can expect an annual council tax payment of just £116. Even at £2.24 per day, it doesn’t come anywhere near what most of us have to pay in real life!
Who writes this fiction and how are they allowed to get away with it?
