Sir, I wish to respond to the letter ‘Think carefully’ from Roberta Nichols (March 25) regarding the current Abbey Meadow consultation.
Referring to the consultation, she mentions in late 2014, only representatives from specific community groups were invited. Therefore, the rankings compiled there of the outdoor pool and other facilities can hardly be regarded as indicative of the views of the people of Abingdon as a whole, particularly as each group present naturally voted for its own area of interest.
I would also dispute her description of those wishing to retain the pool as a ‘single-interest group’. The pool is a valuable recreational asset commensurate with the White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre and Tilsley Park.
Would those using these facilities be described as a ‘single-interest group’? I rather think not.
