Sir – Red kites. These are indeed beautiful birds but they have taken every duckling and baby coot from the river.
I have just seen one take a young grebe then come back for the last one. I have previously seen a kite with a wood pigeon in its talons.
There are at least two nesting sites here and consequently the rest of the wildlife is disappearing.
It’s about time something was done to restrict the population. Perhaps the people responsible for releasing these predators will have a suggestion?
