Sir – I went to the ‘consultation’ at the Grove church which claimed to be a public consultation re the land adjacent to Williams site.

It was a complete waste of time as the developers were only interested in their specific development and when we brought up the subject of schools the reply we got was, factually correct, in that it was nothing to do with them, it was a county responsibility.

When we pointed out that all six small developments in the area were going to need both primary and secondary schools they claimed that their development was too small to need a specific solution by them. They could not accept that the five developers should get together with the county to discuss housing and schools.

Thus we are getting loads of new housing, but no new schools. Nor is there any planned infrastructure to improve the Wantage/Grove travel to work. Hopefully if the houses are built they will be unable to sell them, as there will, under current plans, be no schools for any children to attend.

We also commented that with this development there will be four new roads feeding on to the A338 between Oxford Lane and the Williams roundabout.

Once again the developers could only say that they were only planning one junction, the fact that three other developments all had the same plan, an exit on to the A338, was not their problem.

It should be noted that with the developments in Hanney there will be seven or eight new roads feeding on to the A338.
