Sir – I refer to my letter (August 17, 2011) regarding the vexing subject of vehicle parking on pavements. The only discernible reaction since then appears to have been a proliferation of the problem.
One can no longer go anywhere in Wallingford without being aware of this increasingly disturbing problem; Market Place, the High Street, any road in any of the housing estates – they all suffer from this selfish attitude.
Some years ago, the Thames Valley Police issued a small poster titled ‘Pavements for people’ and yet no-one in authority does anything about the problem – particularly our PCSOs.
Could the authorities now address this problem before a serious accident occurs? I am absolutely fed up with having to put my life at risk by having to walk into the middle of a busy road to avoid the selfish and inconsiderate idiots who put their own convenience before that of others.
