Sir, On July 17, I went to the exhibition at Old Mill Hall to see and discuss the proposals for this residential development and came away thinking exactly the same as the views expressed by Francis Sketch in his letter (July 22).
The developer discharges its infrastructure responsibilities in a financial sense by passing over a sum of money to Oxfordshire County Council which then deliberates and delays.
In the meantime, the local community has to live with and suffer the effects of the aftermath especially with regard to the increased volume of traffic.
The proposed residential projects on the north side of Grove, of which Monks Farm is just one, appear to deliver the northern relief road but all of the traffic from this and the Grove airfield development will simply feed on to the A338.
For Wantage, it’s a double whammy as the same will apply to the A417 following the Crab Hill development.
There must be more co-ordination and joined-up thinking in preparing a strategy to prepare for this eventuality rather than a post-event reaction when it’s too late.
