Sir – I am writing to remind readers that anyone aged 75 or over is entitled to a free TV licence for their main address.
Almost 3.9 million people across the UK are already enjoying the benefits of the concession, so we urge those who have not yet done so to apply.
Those aged 75 and over can apply online at tvlicensing.co.uk/over75 or by calling 0300 790 6073.
Alternatively, they can write to TV Licensing, Darlington, DL98 1TL, giving their name, address, date of birth and National Insurance number.
To make it easy for people to take up their free licence, we also offer short-term licences to people who are aged 74 to cover them up to their 75th birthday.
The free licence is not granted automatically so anyone who becomes eligible needs to make sure they remember to apply to TV Licensing directly. Once you have your licence, TV Licensing will renew your licence once every three years.
