Sir –In your article about fly-tipping (Herald, Nov 4), deputy county council leader Rodney Rose said: “I struggle to see why law-abiding citizens would suddenly become fly-tippers just because they have to travel five minutes to one of the other recycling sites”

Well, hopefully speaking on behalf of many of the council taxpayers in Oxfordshire, I object to his soundbite that has no substance, it is a one-minute journey for me to get to my local site, to go to the next nearest site is a 35-minute journey.

Either Mr Rose has no knowledge of where the sites are and is speaking out of ignorance, or he expects us all to break the speed limit? Which is another area where basic law-abiding citizens can be over the speed limit and get points and a fine which bears no relationship to where these petty criminals consciously break into cars and homes and get less of a penalty.

Surely Mr Rose is a councillor to help council taxpayers be good citizens, not telling us what we should do because he does not give a damn.
